Acting and Presenting Career:
1. You've had a remarkable career as both an actress and a presenter. What inspired you to pursue these fields, and how do you balance your roles in the entertainment industry with your other endeavours?
Thank you for acknowledging my career as both an actress and a businesswoman. I always feel like there's room for improvement, so I constantly set new goals and visions for myself, which keeps me motivated. Balancing everything is challenging, and I have dropped the ball many times—I'm only human. However, I prioritize my life to manage it as best as I can. First, I prioritize my spiritual life, spending time with God to gain wisdom, energy, and strength. Second, being a mom is my top priority; I want to be actively involved in my kids' lives. Third is my career, which allows me to support my children. I also ensure I make time for sleep, as rest is crucial for re-energizing and coming up with great ideas. Resting helps prevent burnout and keeps me in a better state of mind. From a young age, I was always a performer. My mother enrolled me in ballet to build my confidence, which was particularly important because I was shy and often teased. Ballet gave me a sense of achievement and confidence, which continued as I pursued drama and acting. Although my mother initially advised me to study psychology before acting, I am grateful for that advice. It allowed me to mature and gain life experience, which I brought with me when I later studied drama. My passion for acting has been a significant driver in my career.
Angelique Lipstick:
2. As the owner of Angelique Lipstick, what inspired you to start this brand, and how does it reflect your personal style and values?
The idea for Angelique Lipstick came to me unexpectedly. I was praying for something more stable as my work in emceeing, motivational speaking, and acting is often unpredictable. As the sole provider for my three kids, I needed something consistent. A friend suggested promoting Italian lipsticks called Karaja in South Africa, but I decided to create my own brand, Angelique, instead. It was a chance to leverage my existing following and passion for lipstick, particularly red lipsticks. I believe that starting a business in an area you are passionate about makes it easier to market and connect with people. My brand reflects my personal style and values because it aligns with my love for lipstick and commitment to quality. It's essential to be passionate about your product because that enthusiasm translates to your audience.
Fitness Enthusiasm:
3. You're also a fitness enthusiast. How has fitness played a role in your life as both a mother and a public figure, and what advice do you have for busy moms looking to stay active?
I've always been active, starting with long-distance running and ballet in my youth. After taking a break during my psychology studies, I experienced significant physical and emotional challenges. Moving to London and resuming my fitness routine helped me regain my health and confidence. I now make time for a 30-minute workout daily, even fitting it into a lunch break if necessary. I recommend finding a type of exercise you enjoy, whether it’s spinning, boxing, running, or HIIT workouts. It’s crucial to make daily fitness a habit and not let excuses get in the way. Balance is also important; it's okay to have days where you rest and recharge. I strive for an 80-20 balance: 80% healthy choices and 20% flexibility. Setting a good example for my kids is also a motivation; they see me prioritizing fitness and are encouraged to follow suit.
Motivational Speaking:
4. As a motivational speaker, what key messages do you aim to share with your audience, and what personal experiences have shaped your approach to motivating others?
When I give motivational talks, I pray for guidance to tailor my message to the audience’s needs. My talks often draw from my personal experiences, including divorce, heartbreak, financial struggles, and overcoming various challenges. I focus on sharing God’s goodness and faithfulness, emphasizing that everyone is equal in God's eyes and that He can help anyone overcome their difficulties. I encourage people to have a vision, remain hopeful, and rely on God rather than seeking validation from others. My experiences have taught me that true strength comes from relying on God and having a vision for the future.
Influencer Role:
5. With such a large following on social media, how do you navigate the responsibility that comes with being an influencer, and how do you stay authentic while engaging with your audience?
Navigating social media is challenging as it often showcases only the best aspects of life. I strive to be authentic but acknowledge that it’s not always possible. People use filters and selective angles, so I encourage others not to compare themselves to social media standards. While I do share sponsored content as part of my income, I aim to do so responsibly. I am still learning how to manage this role and advise that while I am not a perfect role model, I strive to be genuine. I try to avoid politics and focus on my Christian values, but even then, it's difficult to avoid offending or disappointing others. It’s a challenging responsibility, and I do my best to handle it with care.

Future Aspirations:
6. Looking ahead, what are some of your goals for the future, whether it’s in your career, personal life, or with Angelique Lipstick?
For Angelique Lipstick, I aim to expand its presence in shops across South Africa and eventually enter international markets, believing in the quality of my product. Personally, I want my children to grow up healthy, happy, and wise, making responsible decisions. In my acting career, I hope to continue appearing on South African television and potentially internationally. I dream of winning prestigious awards like an Emmy or an Oscar. I will be appearing in the second season of "Diepewaters" and "Stralend" on kykNET. Ultimately, I hope to inspire women and mothers to stand on their own, trust in God, and realize their potential.
