Jaenette Jacobs has turned her lifelong dream into a reality. With over a decade in the entertainment industry, the 37-year-old South African beauty is a celebrated model, ambassador, influencer, and television personality.

Her journey began with appearances in 28 music videos, igniting a love for the camera and the glamour of show business. She was crowned Miss Gauteng, Miss Trademarx, and earned spots in FHM’s Top 100 Most Beautiful Women globally for three consecutive years.

In 2019, Jaenette gained national attention after winning Sterstatus on VIA TV — a reality show aimed at launching fresh faces into the spotlight. She returned in 2020 as the presenter for Season 2, solidifying her presence on screen.

That same year, during the pandemic, she launched her own agency — JL Artist Management & Promotions — offering management services for artists, videographers, models, motivational speakers, and more. As director, Jaenette now works both in front of and behind the scenes, shaping the careers of others while continuing her own.

She’s a sought-after host on major festival stages, a seasoned pageant judge, and a motivational figure to many. In 2024, she transformed her lifestyle, shedding nearly 15kg and training for her first half marathon — a tribute to her late father, who once coached her. “Now, 21 years later, I’m running for him,” she says. She credits her partner, Willem, for reigniting her passion for fitness and supporting her every step of the way.

A Photographic Journey of Passion and Mentorship

My career began in the world of design, working with some of Johannesburg's top advertising agencies before discovering my true passion: photography and videography. What started as curiosity quickly became an obsession as I immersed myself in mastering every technical aspect of these visual crafts. I challenged myself with the most demanding genres, relentlessly pursuing perfection in every shot and frame.

This dedication led to one of my proudest achievements - my experimental long-exposure work being featured in the "Out of Uniform" exhibition showcasing artists from the London Underground, later archived at the prestigious Tate Gallery.

Through my lens, I've had the privilege of working with notable figures including DJ Fresh, rugby captain John Smit, members of the Mandela family, and media personality Jennifer Su. These experiences have been incredible milestones in my professional journey.

When not working on commercial projects, I enjoy sharing my knowledge through workshops. It was through these that an interesting mentoring relationship developed organically with my friend Natasha. Originally a mutual friend I invited to join a workshop, Natasha showed such remarkable enthusiasm and dedication that our occasional sessions evolved into an ongoing creative partnership.

Watching Natasha grow from learning basic DSLR functions to developing her own distinctive style in natural light portraiture has been incredibly rewarding. When I encouraged her to experiment with off-camera flash photography, her willingness to push boundaries reminded me why I fell in love with visual storytelling in the first place.

Our collaboration took an exciting turn when we began working with talented dress designer Liezl. Her unique creations added a stunning new dimension to our shoots. What began as a one-time test shoot quickly turned into a series of successful collaborations, with Liezl's innovative designs perfectly complementing our photographic vision.

This unexpected creative triangle - photographer/videographer, student, and designer - has reinvigorated my approach. Teaching Natasha forced me to revisit fundamentals with fresh eyes, while working with Liezl's designs challenged me to create in new ways. Most importantly, it reminded me that visual storytelling's true magic lies not just in technical perfection, but in the creative connections we make along the way.

From advertising designer to photographer | videographer to mentor, my journey continues to surprise me. The opportunity to help nurture new talent while collaborating with other creatives like Liezl has become one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career - proving that sometimes the most rewarding paths are the ones we don't plan.

From the moment the camera started rolling, it was clear that something exceptional was unfolding. A powerhouse collaboration between some of the most talented creatives in the industry brought to life a breathtaking high-end fashion shoot that could easily belong on the cover of a magazine—or in a luxury campaign on your screen.

Each element of the shoot was curated with precision, passion, and artistry. When passion meets collaboration, magic happens. This shoot wasn't just a production—it was a celebration of artistry, empowerment, and excellence. Anton van Straaten, known for his technical excellence and creative direction, worked his signature magic behind the camera. Alongside the talented Natasha VH Photography, the duo delivered imagery that radiates sophistication and emotion.

Photography has always been something I loved, but for a long time, I didn’t feel confident enough to do it for anyone other than my family. When I had my daughter, I wanted so much to capture her little moments, but I didn’t quite know how.

A big turning point came when I reached out to Toni (Anton) for advice. He has always been a inspiration to me (From the day he captured my wedding day) He was hosting a photography workshop, and I decided to attend. That day changed everything for me. It gave me the push I needed to pursue photography more seriously, and I've never looked back. From a mutual friendship to teacher our photography connection began.

Working alongside Liezl and her incredible talent has made this journey even more special. The stunning dresses she creates for every workshop are absolute works of art. Her passion for her creations shines through in every piece she makes, and I’m so grateful to be able to work with her and Toni, bringing those gorgeous designs to life through photography, this has been such a perfect collaboration.
