Artificial Intelligence in the Beauty industry / By Dr A Naidoo (Surgeon and CEO Natmed Solutions)
Mirror Mirror on the wall, whose the fairest of them all?
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made its way to the beauty sector with a rise in applications related to virtual product try-ons, personalization of skincare routines, assessing skin age and concerns as well as prescribing products for concerns.
With global growth in online sales of beauty products, AI scanning allows brands to have oversight on their customers concerns and track geographically to create ranges bespoke to regions and needs. Access has never been easier with use of smartphone cameras.
Noticing this trend early, Natmed Solutions, Founders of Skin Microbiome Brand BiomeRenew, co-created Africa’s first AI Smartphone Scanner with HAUT AI in the EU. Built with 63 dermatologists and backed by Microsoft’s Pegasus Project, this technology identifies 15 skin concerns, calculates apparent skin age and tone and prescribes solutions for microbiome and skin condition related concerns from the BiomeRenew product range.
Utiling this data we had found a growing concern of Acne in the 15-35 year old populations in Johannesburg and Durban, much higher than the less urbanized areas. Data like this helps us understand disease epidemiology and to find solutions for the climate of the individual also and helped us shape our BiomeRenew cleanser.
Free for the public to scan at point of sale of BiomeRenew and online on www.biomerenew.co.za Go give it a no obligations try out and dive into understanding your skin better. What would your skin say if it could talk?
