Six years ago, Penny’s life changed in an instant. An accident left her paralysed and dependent on a wheelchair. Before that day, she lived an active, independent life, working, being sporty, and doing all the everyday things most of us take for granted. Suddenly, everything was different.

Last December, something unexpected sparked a new beginning. While visiting Sabine G Health and Beauty, Penny noticed two breathtaking rose bouquets at reception. They were not real flowers, they were candles. She was completely captivated. In that moment, something inside her shifted. Inspired and hopeful, she bought her very first mould, along with colours and fragrances, while her husband lovingly sponsored the wax. That small step became the start of something truly meaningful.

She began making tealights, so many that she eventually lost count. She gave them away, simply wanting to share the joy of creating something beautiful. Soon Sabine asked her to make a candle using a kit she had bought, along with some extra supplies she could offer. Then in February, more moulds arrived and Penny decided to invest in jars as well. Her very first sale followed, and to her absolute delight, everything was sold out.

Encouraged and deeply grateful, she continued. Penny made rose candles and more tealights and asked Sabine if she could bring them to the salon. Seeing them sell filled her heart with renewed hope. Each sale meant more than just income, it meant progress, independence, and belief. The small profit allowed her to buy more wax and invest in new moulds. Another friend kindly helped her purchase additional moulds, and slowly but surely, her small business began to grow.

Her third sale was sponsored, and some of the candles will be donated, a gentle reminder that kindness has a beautiful way of coming full circle. Every sale means the world to Penny. It keeps her dream alive and her business moving forward. She spent time researching candle prices in shops and online and realised that many candles are often overpriced. Penny pours her time, love, and care into every single candle she creates. Custom candles are always welcome and can be made for weddings, functions, and birthdays.

Life still brings daily challenges, but Penny’s journey teaches something powerful. When you choose not to give up, when you keep trying even on the hardest days, unexpected doors can open. Purpose can be found in the most unlikely places.
